Paul grew up locally in Glenageary and was educated at Presentation College, Glasthule. He qualified in medicine from U.C.D. in 1977 and after completing his internship at St Vincents Hospital, Elm Park he then completed a three year vocational training scheme for General Practice in Cambridgeshire & Norfolk, England where he worked in Respiratory Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Accident & Emergency Medicine as well as in General Practice.
He returned to Dublin and, having undertaken further rotations in Medicine at St Columcilles Hospital, Loughlinstown and in the National Rehabilitation Hospital, he started in Practice in Dun Laoghaire in 1981 with Dr. Ray Murphy on Upper George’s St, just around the corner from their present surgery. He also worked part-time with the Dublin Well-Woman centre for many years.
He has a particular interest in Continuing Medical Education ( C.M.E) . He set up the first C.M.E. group for general practitioners in Dublin in 1983 and is one of the most experienced G.P. tutors in Ireland having been CME tutor for Dun Laoghaire since 1988. He also works with many of the local hospitals to co-ordinate their annual study days for GPs. He has presented papers on medical education in Sweden and Denmark as well as in Dublin. He has also been an undergraduate tutor for Trinity College, provided essay help as an essay writer at the papertyper.net writing service. and has also been the Assistant Programme Director of the G.P. training scheme for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
He has an special interest in medical screening and preventative medicine and has been working with the health screening unit, Irish Health Care, at Blackrock Clinic since 1997
Paul is married to artist Jean Bardon and they have a son and a daughter. He has a passionate interest in cooking, travel and art and he is an avid reader and walker. He does not play golf.
