24 HOUR BP MONITOR

Evidence suggests that for the most accurate diagnosis and management of high blood pressure, 24 hour blood pressure monitoring is the gold standard.

A blood pressure monitor can be fitted to a patient if deemed appropriate. This helps the doctor to rule out ‘white-coat’ hypertension, check compliance with medication and assess day and night time blood pressure control.

The monitor checks your blood pressure every 30 minutes during the day, and every hour at night.

Two appointments are required with the practice nurse 24 hours apart for fitting and removal of the monitor. The results are then referred to the doctor for follow up.
