DUE TO THE INCREASE IN COVID-19 CASES, WE HAVE TAKEN A NUMBER OF STEPS TO PROTECT OUR PATIENTS AND STAFF, THE FIRST OF WHICH IS TO STOP ALL AVOIDABLE ATTENDANCES IN THE SURGERY.
WHAT IF I THINK I HAVE CORONAVIRUS?
If you have a fever, cough, or shortness of breath – phone the surgery. You will be phoned back by our nurse who will either:
Refer you to the HSE for COVID testing, or
Schedule an initial phone consultation for you with one of our GPs (and a possible follow-up protected visit at the surgery if required)
Guidance on when to self isolate and when to restrict personal and household movements
Covid-19 Antibody Testing
A blood sample can be taken to check to see if there are specific antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 present. The test detects IgG antibodies produced in response to the infection. A positive test indicates previous infection with the virus.
Test: Abbott – Validation – 100% Sensitivity and 99.6% specificity for samples taken greater than 14 days after onset of symptoms.
The presence of antibodies does not mean that you are protected against future Covid-19 infection. Antibody testing should not be used to diagnose current infection.
The cost for this in-clinic antibody test is €90
WHAT IF I’M UNWELL BUT I DON’T HAVE COUGH, FEVER OR SHORTNESS OF BREATH?
We are now offering scheduled doctor phone consultations at a reduced rate of €40. A full history will be taken and an assessment will be made.
If an in-person consultation is NOT considered necessary by the doctor:
A doctor’s note may be emailed to you
A prescription may be issued directly to your pharmacy
A social welfare cert may be issued online directly
If an in-person consultation IS considered necessary by the doctor (or if you would still prefer one):
Because the history has already been taken over the phone, it will be shorter than a normal appointment (this also keeps you and the doctor safer)
It will be charged at a normal consultation rate with credit given for the phone consultation cost (i.e. €40 for the initial phone consultation and €25 for the in-person follow-up)
WHAT IF I JUST NEED A REPEAT PRESCRIPTION?
Please contact the surgery and the doctor will check if a consultation is necessary. If not necessary, your prescription may be sent directly to the pharmacy (a prescription fee of €20 will likely apply for private patients).
